A Couple Deeply in Love

Taylor and Michael are some of the sweetest people I’ve ever met! Seriously, they were so intentional with every part of their day, especially when it came to carving out time for couples photos. They set aside a whole hour just for portraits, and it was amazing! Not only did it give us plenty of time to capture all the photo magic, but it also allowed them to spend some quiet, intimate moments together.

We wandered around The War Memorial, taking advantage of all the photo spots this incredible venue has to offer. The weather was unexpectedly cloudy, but that actually worked in our favor—it softened the light and made every corner of the venue look so beautiful. Having never been to Michigan before, this venue was quite the introduction! I mean, come on, the views and architecture were just stunning. Every shot felt like it could have been straight out of a fairytale!!

Memorable Moments

There was this one moment during their portrait session where Taylor and Michael were just cuddling close. I had positioned them, and they naturally leaned into each other, sharing this incredibly tender moment. I could feel the love radiating from them, it was so special that I literally teared up and had to step back to collect myself! It’s moments like these that remind me why I love photographing weddings so much.

They were also SO much fun! From laughing during the portrait session to dancing the night away at the reception, their personalities shined through the entire day. And even though they spent a lot of time on photos, they still made it to cocktail hour and partied with their guests without missing a beat!

Why Making Time for Couples Photos Is a Win-Win

One of the biggest things I loved about Taylor and Michael’s wedding day was how intentional they were about their couples photos. It’s easy to feel rushed on your wedding day—there’s so much going on, and you want to be with your guests. But taking that extra time for your couples photos is not only okay, it’s a win-win! You get stunning photos and some private time with your partner away from the hustle and bustle of the day.

Pro Tip: Don’t feel like you have to rush to cocktail hour! Yes, you can totally make time for that too (Taylor and Michael did!), but having a little extra time set aside for portraits gives you the chance to slow down, enjoy each other, and take in the fact that you just got married. It’s your day—take that time for yourselves!
